How to create an Email Mailbox in ISPConfig

This guide walks you through setting up a basic Email Mailbox in the ISPConfig control panel for your Noiz shared hosting account. It’s a simple way to get your email started.

Prerequisites

  • A Noiz shared hosting account with ISPConfig access.
  • Your login credentials (sent in your welcome email).
  • A domain already added to your account (see How to add a domain).

Step 1: Log in to ISPConfig

  1. Choose your preferred login method:
  2. Once logged in, ensure you’re in the client view to manage your services.

Troubleshooting tip: If you’re locked out, verify your credentials or contact Noiz support. Check How to unblock your IP address if needed.

Step 2: Create the Email Mailbox

  1. From the ISPConfig dashboard, click Email in the menu.
  2. Select Email Mailbox from the options.
  3. Click Add new Mailbox.
  4. Enter the details:
    • Domain: Select your domain (e.g., yourdomain.co.za) from the list.
    • Email: Type your new email address (e.g., info@yourdomain.co.za).
    • Password: Set a strong password or use the auto-generate option.
    • Quota: Set a mailbox size (e.g., 500 MB) or leave as default.
  5. Click Save to create the mailbox.

Additional suggestion: For advanced features like Autoresponders or Forwarding, explore How to add an autoresponder to an email mailbox or How to set up email forwarding.

Step 3: Verify the mailbox

  1. Go back to the Email Mailbox section to see the account listed.
  2. Note the server details (e.g., mail.yourdomain.co.za) for email client setup.
  3. Log into the mailbox either through webmail or by connecting your email client such as Thunderbird.

Troubleshooting tip: If the mailbox doesn’t show, refresh the page or check the system status area for delays. For webmail or Thunderbird issues, ensure your credentials and server settings match.
